Description
- Scratch is a colorful, visual way to learn coding without any typing! It uses “snap-together” blocks (like digital LEGOs) to bring stories and games to life. For students with special needs, Scratch is the perfect starting point because there are no syntax errors or confusing semi-colons—just pure creativity.
- The Fun Way to LearnInstead of writing lines of code, students drag and drop color-coded blocks to tell a character (a “Sprite”) what to do. If the blocks fit together, the code works! It’s a low-stress environment where every click leads to a fun result.
What you'll learn
- Character Animation: Learn to make a Sprite move, dance, and change colors using the Motion and Looks blocks.
- Sound & Music: Students can record their own voices or add funny sounds to their projects to create a multi-sensory experience.
- Cause and Effect: Using "Events," students learn that "When I click the green flag, the cat jumps!" This builds a strong understanding of how actions have reactions.
- Logic Loops: Using "Repeat" blocks to make characters do silly dances helps students understand patterns and sequences.
- Storytelling: Students build their own interactive greeting cards or short cartoons, which is a wonderful way to practice creative expression.
